Round Island (Praslin)

A quick 30 minute helicopter ride from Mahé International Airport will land you at Round Island, a 20 hectare island located outside of Praslin. The island is within view of Baie Sainte Anne, a large turquoise lagoon located on the south east of Praslin. Geographically, since this area lies well protected from trade winds and currents, the island was once abundant with Coco-de-Mer palms, which later made way for a coconut plantation.

Recently, an exclusive hideaway opened on this island. With a maximum of 20 guests, Creole style buildings of native wood and a surrounding environment of rich biodiversity, Round Island makes a favourite destination.

Round Island offers three villas and one private house, each named after native animals. Each villa has a size of 165m², two spacious bedrooms with separate bathrooms, living/dining room with mezzanine and direct access to a 85m² terrace. The private house (300m²) is located higher up the hill on a granite cliff. The history of this ancient house dates back to the time of pirates, merchants and spice traders from far away seas. Today the house consists of two bedrooms with separate shower rooms, one master bedroom with a balneotherapy bathtub, kitchen, living/dining room with access to the private garden and swimming pool.

At the beach restaurant, the guests can enjoy cocktails and a relaxed lunch while overlooking the Indian Ocean. A second restaurant serving International and Creole cuisine can be found at Le Citronnelle - an oasis of refinement. The fine cuisine, swimming pool, terrace, drawing room and a library offer a switch from your day on the beach.

Snorkelling and diving around the rocky shoreline reveals a variety of marine life, such as giant stingrays, sleeping reef sharks and parrotfish. Other watersport activities, such as sailing, kayaking and deep-sea fishing are offered. Boat cruises to neighbouring islands can be arranged. Keen golfers can use the golf course at Lemuria Resort on Praslin, only a few minutes by helicopter from Round Island. Besides a fully equipped gym, a complete health spa with jacuzzi, massages and range of beauty treatments are offered at Round Island.

There are three helipads on Praslin, one on Cousine Island and one on Round Island. All are linked by helicopter flights in order to facilitate your hotel transfers. Fees are for the entire helicopter irrespective of number of passengers. Our Bell 206 helicopters can accommodate maximum 4 passengers while our Agusta 109C helicopter can accommodate up to 6 passengers.
