Maia Luxury Resort & Spa opens its doors to guests
A place of physical and mental rediscovery

Seychelles, 6th August 2006:

The newly built Maia Luxury Resort & Spa is situated in the green mountain chain along the bay of Anse Louis in the southwest of Mahé. The resort is named after the Maia star (The Great One) in The Seven Sisters star constellation. The resort and gardens have been designed by renowned architect Bill Bensley and convey a mixture of Far Eastern influences combined with traditional Creole style. Each of the 30 luxurious villas offer an undisturbed 180 degrees seaview.

There are 8 Oceanfront Villas located directly on the beach, 3 Ocean View Villas on the green hillside, 11 Ocean Panoramic Villas in a more elevated position and 8 Maia Signature Villas, of which one has a private beach access. Each villa has a living space of 250m² including an outside pavilion with an over-sized daybed. The air-conditioned bedroom is equipped with a fully stocked bar, flat-screen TV, IPod station, DVD Player, surround sound system, safe and ceiling fan. The bathroom has a glassed indoor shower and access to an outdoor bath designed for two submerged in an infinity edged pool. A private cooking area provides all villas the possibility of en-suite dining, prepared by their own dedicated butler.

The cuisine is a mixture of cultures and flavours, using only the freshest and finest ingredients. The Gourmet Restaurant is specialised in Tandoori, Creole and Franco Asian cuisine. Romantic candle-light dinners on the beach can be arranged. The Sunset Pool Bar at the cascading swimming pool serves chilled drinks combined with a magnificent view onto the Indian Ocean.

The Maia Spa by La Prairie has been designed as a haven for pure relaxation. Three treatment pavilions with double beds are isolated in the garden and surrounded by tropical nature. The Spa offers a variety of luxurious treatments, such as the well-known Jari Menari (dancing fingers) massage. In the Meditation Pavilion internationally trained yoga professionals teach Qi Gong and Self Shiatsu. Additionally, the resort also offers active watersports, such as kayaking, snorkelling, canoeing and pedalos. Customised excursions to other islands by boat or helicopter can be organised by the Maia team. Walks along the 500 metre white sandy beach or through the tropical mountain forest gives an insight into the nature of the island.

From Mahé airport the resort can be reached in seven minutes by helicopter or in 40 minutes by a chauffeured drive. For more information about Maia Luxury Resort & Spa please visit their website at www.maia.com.sc.
