Seychelles, 30 May 2006:
North Island will close its lodge to guests from June 17 to 20 and will be
running the first Children in the Wilderness programme.
The programme is aimed at education and support of the disadvantaged children
through bringing them together on an educational basis to various
wilderness areas.
The programme will include the need to protect the
environment and will educate the children in both marine and terrestrial
environmental issues pertinent to Seychelles.
With the aim to educate the children on social, health, environmental
and moral issues, the programme is designed for disadvantaged children and
children who have been affected by some of these issues, all with the
intention of them having fun.
According to North Island, they will be bringing in 36 children
between ages 10 and 16 to experience the luxury five star facilities.
The programme is being run by Wilderness Safaris in Southern Africa, to date
having hosted 1,512 children, and is seen as a long term
commitment by North Island to the children of the Seychelles.
There was not a question for Helicopter Seychelles to contribute to this
project by flying some of its organisers over.
